TROY, Ala. (TROJANVISION) — A new season has begun for a different type of league: the Miracle League.

Miracle League is an organization that gives people with disabilities the chance to get together and play games like baseball and kickball.

“This is very important because it makes them feel like they have the space to be normal and they get to play the games that anybody else would be able to play and it just gets them out of the house to be able to be active and healthy,” said Miracle League Buddy Aryanna Vaughn.

For many, Miracle League is a binding thread for their community – offering activities and outings that otherwise would not be possible. For one Miracle League athlete, the games offer a safe space where she can that find community.

“I am very excited to play ball today,” said Miracle League Athlete Maria Taylor. “I’ve been feeling depressed [sometimes] because I get bullied a lot.

“If you’re special, and if you’re getting bullied, just don’t care about it because that’s what I’ve been going through.”

In 2025, an EF2 tornado tore through parts of Troy, destroying much of the Miracle League field. Now that it’s been repaired, many athletes are getting their first chance to play kickball on the new field.

“I can’t wait for this big season to start off good this year,” said Miracle League Athlete and Trojan Baseball Enthusiast Austin Turner.

Miracle League will keep bringing the special needs community together every Monday through September and October. That way, athletes and buddies can keep knocking it out of the park and bringing that fun all the way home.
