TROY, Ala. (TROJANVISION) — A second Troy University fraternity is under investigation amid accusations of hazing.
Troy University has issued a cease and desist directive to fraternity Delta Kappa Epsilon (DKE).
The directive comes just one week after the university banned its longest-standing fraternity, Pi Kappa Phi, after an investigation discovered evidence of hazing. That fraternity has been banned until 2029.
According to a statement provided by Senior Director of Communications Matt Clower, the cease and desist was issued October 7 following “allegations of possible hazing involving new members.”
Under the directive, the fraternity must stop all chapter activities while the university investigates. That investigation, according to Clower, is being handled by the Office of Student Services as well as the national Delta Kappa Epsilon organization.
This is not the first time Delta Kappa Epsilon has faced hazing accusations. In fall 2019, the group was suspended after reports that members were forced to endure sleep deprivation, excessive calisthenics and alcohol use. The group was cast out of Fraternity Row and has not had its own house on campus since.
According to its Instagram page, DKE was first established at Troy University in 1976.
This is a developing story; TrojanVision will continue to provide updates as they are provided.
