TROY, Ala. (TROJANVISION) — Two differing political groups on campus are working together to encourage more students to become registered voters.
On the quad, student political leaders helped other students make sure they’re registered to vote for the upcoming midterm elections Thursday morning. They said it’s as easy as coming by, filling out a form and walking on back to class.
With the midterm elections coming up in November, members of both Turning Point USA and College Democrats at Troy agreed to work together.
“We just want to make sure that people know first of all that there is an election, that they know how important it is to vote and to make sure that they’re registered to vote, that they know how to vote absentee if that’s what they need to do, that they know where they’re registered so they can successfully cast their ballot for the midterms,” said Troy College Democrats Member Micah Breland.

One student stopped by the table to make sure he would be able to vote during the upcoming midterms.
Sot: eli beall, student : “I know voting is really important for the country – its out voice and how we get our opinions across, so I know it’s really important that everyone needs to be registered to vote and get out there and actually vote,” said Eli Beall, a freshman business entrepreneurship major from Athens, Georgia. “It’s cool to know they’re out here doing this.”
Breland said casting your ballot this midterm election will be very important, especially if you’re a student.
“It’s going to decide who’s controlling our congress, it’s going to decide who’s going to be our next governor here in Alabama, and those are things that affect us directly as students, when it comes to the issues that we care about and the things that are important to us,” Breland said. “That’s why its so important to people out to vote.”
