Let loose the Goose: Crowder talks comeback following injury

TROY, Ala (TROJANVISION) — After being sidelined for almost two full games, Troy quarterback Goose Crowder played lights out in his return to the field.

After rushing for a touchdown in the second quarter of a week two matchup against the Memphis Tigers, Crowder was sidelined for the rest of the game with a concussion

“Kinda got banged up earlier that drive,” Crowder explained. “Then the end of the quarter hit and I don’t remember too much, just kind of knew I got my bell rung.”

Crowder would also be ruled out against Iowa before being cleared to make his return the following week against Florida A&M.

“Once I got cleared it was business as usual,” said Crowder. “Watching the film and going out there and practicing with the guys.”

In his homecoming game, Crowder played lights out, connecting on 17 out of 24 throws for a total of 291 passing yards including a 98-yard house call to wide receiver Devonte Ross. Crowder also rushed for 25 yards.

“I just knew that I was going to go out there and execute the plays that coach had called at the best of my ability,” said Crowder. “I know that if I did my job then everything would kind of sort itself out.”

Last Saturday the Trojans lost to the ULM Warhawks in a match that saw Crowder leave the game injured once again. Head Coach Gerad Parker stated that whether or not Crowder sees playing time will be a game-time decision.
