TROY, Ala. (TROJANVISION) — Roses are red, chocolate is sweet, which one is Troy students favorite Valentine’s Day treat?
It is the season of love and everyone is scrambling to find the perfect gift. It begs the question, though, what is the number one Valentine’s Day gift?
Each year two presents battle it out for the top spot: chocolate versus flowers.
“I prefer to receive chocolates, because I can eat them and I just love food so much,” student Keeley Bulman said. “While flowers are really pretty, they’re super temporary.”
“I really like roses,” student Elijah Brooks countered. “It’s just very symbolic and it’s sweet. It’s a sweet thing to do, because you can keep them forever if you dry them out.”

“I love flowers, so whenever somebody gives me flowers, I dry them and hang them in the wall,” student Shreeya Sinjali said. “It can stay forever.”
Students voted on which gift they would like to receive and why.
“I’d probably take some chocolate,” student Ryan Mays said. “I don’t really got no use for flowers. It’s a nice gesture, but I’ll eat the chocolate, so I’ll take some chocolate.”
“As a guy you never really receive flowers, so I’ve never really gotten flowers,” Noah Maddox said. “It’d be nice.”
It seems the gift giving battle continues!
