Future Trojans flock to campus for Spring Trojan Day

TROY, Ala. (TROJANVISION) — Hundreds of high school students and their families visited Troy’s campus Saturday for Spring Trojan Day — the university’s preview day for potential students.

Instead of hosting the browse session inside Trojan Arena, the university moved it outdoors to the main quad. Senior Director of Enrollment Services Gus McKenzie said the change created a more relaxed environment for students and families.

“Our campus is beautiful, and we want people to see that beauty,” McKenzie said. “This also allows for conversation that doesn’t have to be quite as loud when we’re in Trojan Arena.”

Ethan Mendenhall is a senior from Blue Mountain, Illinois. He said wants to pursue a career in accounting and was impressed by the Sorrell College of Business‘ table.

“We saw they [the Sorell College of Business’s table] had one of the higher ranked business colleges,” Mendenhall said. “I’m looking to go into auditing and accounting, which is very relevant to my interests.

“Overall, they seem more organized and welcoming than the 12 other colleges I applied to. That’s a major indicator that this will be an overall better experience.”

McKenzie also said the University is introducing new ways for admitted students to connect before arriving on campus. One of those tools is the app “ZeeMee.”

“ZeeMee is a place for current and incoming students to connect with each other,” McKenzie said. “It’s set up a lot like Discord where there are different chat channels.

“There’s an admitted students channel and there’s also a roommate channel. It’s a way for students to connect with each other, and the relationships we value here at Troy can begin at a much earlier stage.”
