TROY, Ala. (TROJANVISION) — A fixture of Troy university’s campus is currently being renovated. The goal? Give it a new and modernized look.

“We’ve got new flooring in the seats, new carpet down the aisle ways, its got brand new theater seating, its going to be completely repainted and the we have an audio visual package coming in,” explained Robert Burkey, Executive Director of Facility Operations.

Not only is Claudia Crosby theater a popular venue for campus events, it also welcomes community events.

“Its our campus theater, I mean its a community theater so its what a lot of the community come in and they see,” stated Burkey.

Renovations started June 1, but the project hasn’t been without delays. Despite those setbacks, Burkey says crews are full steam ahead.

The theater got its name in 1999 after arts patron Claudia Crosby donated 1.3 million dollars to renovate the Smith Hall auditorium.
