Troy University’s Sorrell College of Business is Alabama’s only business school to be named to Fortune’s “Best Business Schools and MBA Programs for 2026” list, one of just 72 programs to make the cut nationwide.
“Fortune’s ranking reflects the standard of excellence we set as an AACSB institution. The Sorrell College MBA program is consistently recognized for its high-quality, affordability, and innovative curriculum—all of these positive factors result from the hard work of our faculty to ensure industry engagement and their focus on continuous improvement in all areas of the college,” said Sorrell College Dean Dr. Judson Edwards.

More than 1,000 colleges and universities in the United States offer an MBA degree, and there are more than 2,300 specific MBA programs nationwide. AACSB, the gold standard of business college accreditation, accredits more than 560 schools of business. At TROY, Sorrell College holds AACSB accreditation and AACSB accreditation for the Carr School of Accountancy.
In the Fortune methodology, early career results are heavily favored. Student Outcomes carry 55% of the ranking’s weight, Academic Quality and Selectivity (25%), Program Stability and Scale (15%), and Cost (5%).
“This year’s list recognizes institutions that demonstrate excellence across academic quality, career outcomes, selectivity and return on investment,” the publication stated. “Your placement reflects the strength of your program and the meaningful impact you are having on current and future business leaders. We are proud to feature your school among this year’s honorees.”
“With hundreds of MBA programs across the country, identifying the best options can be challenging,” editors added. “Fortune’s 2026 ranking prioritizes measurable career outcomes, particularly compensation and employment success, while still recognizing academic strength, competitiveness, and program stability.”
