Troy University’s fight song, “Trojans, One and All” has been selected as USA TODAY Sports’ 2026 Readers’ Choice Award for Best Fight Song.
Announced online on Wednesday morning, “Trojans, One and All” placed first ahead of Michigan State’s “Victory for MSU,” USC’s “Fight On,” Navy’s “Anchors Aweigh,” Tennessee’s “Rocky Top,” Georgia Tech’s “Ramblin’ Wreck,” Wisconsin’s “On Wisconsin,” Ohio State’s “Across the Field,” Georgia’s “Glory, Glory,” and Notre Dame’s “Victory March.”
The nominations were curated by a panel of USA TODAY Sports editors, who selected 20 fight songs from across the country. Those 20 were opened up to an online public vote, which ended Aug. 17.
“Hearing the Sound of the South, the best band in the land, play the fight song is exciting because it signals success on the field of play, and it is one of our most treasured traditions,” said Dr. Jack Hawkins, Jr., Chancellor. “Trojans, One and All, written by the legendary Dr. John M. Long, is a source of great pride for Trojans around the world, and we are extremely grateful that it has been selected by readers of USA TODAY Sports as the best college fight song.”
Kyle George, Director of Athletics, said the recognition reflects the pride fans have in the university and its athletic programs.
“This recognition is a tremendous reflection of the pride and passion that surrounds Troy University and Troy Athletics,” George said. “Over the past year, our student-athletes, coaches and fans have put TROY on a national stage through historic postseason runs and remarkable accomplishments across our athletics program. From our historic run to Omaha and across all of our sports performing at a high level, the TROY brand has continued to gain national recognition and momentum. To now see our fight song recognized by fans across the country as the nation’s best is another incredible chapter in that story. Nothing captures the spirit of TROY greater than hearing the mighty Sound of the South perform ‘Trojans, One and All,’ and we are proud that spirit continues to resonate far beyond our campus and our community.”
“Trojans, One and All,” was written by legendary former Sound of the South band director the late Dr. John M. Long in 1983 and became the official fight song during the 1999-2000 academic year, according to Dr. Mark Walker, Director of Bands.
“We are proud and honored to play our Fight Song at all athletic events and whenever it’s warranted,” Walker said. “It truly does bring all Trojans together as ‘one.’”
