On Saturday, a new homecoming queen will be crowned on the field during halftime and will be crowned with a military flair by the reigning queen, Madison McElrath.
She’ll be traveling in from Goodfellow Air Force Base in San Angelo, TX where she’s stationed as an Air Force second lieutenant training to be an intelligence officer. McElrath, a cadet in Air Force ROTC Detachment 17, graduated in May with a psychology major and a minor in Spanish. She’s a Millbrook native.
“My time at Troy University was nothing short of amazing! At Troy, I met some of the best people, joined some of the best organizations, and greatly developed as a leader,” she said. “A large portion of my leadership development can be attributed to my time in AFROTC.”
As a AFROTC cadet, McElrath quickly attributes her success in the Air Force and in the classroom to the mentorship of Det 017’s leadership Lt. Col. Kedem Alon, Maj. Brian Cockroft MSgt. Derek Teller.
“Their support helped me to succeed, and I am very grateful for their guidance even now in my professional career,” she said. “I am forever grateful for the steppingstones TROY provided me to succeed as a professional in today’s workforce.”
