Troy University has received its first Telly Award thanks to Studio 207’s music video, “Tonight You Are Mine.” The video received a Silver Telly in the Branded Content division of the record-breaking 45th Annual Telly Awards.

The Telly Awards is the premier award honoring video and television across all screens. Established in 1979, The Telly Awards receives entries from all 50 states and five continents.

Studio 207 is a multimedia design company created by TROY alums Jared Hester, Reanna Thompson, Zack Pappanastos, Howard Purvee and Nathaniel Hobbs when they were still students. The music video depicts the daily struggles of a young man dealing with lost love.

“Creating this music video with my best friends and business partners was the experience of a lifetime,” said Thompson, head writer on the project. It pushed me out of all my comfort zones with writing, acting and directing and made me a better creative because of it.”

“Tonight You Are Mine” initially began as a project in a user experience class taught by Associate Professor of Graphic Design Chris Stagl that grew into more, Hester said.

“It transcended into my thesis project as a component of the overall campaign for a band I created called ‘Wayne’s By Six,’ a fictitious band that I thought would be fun to brand with marketing swag and merch, including the music video” he said. “I couldn’t be happier with the end result, and winning a Telly is the icing on the cake to one memorable semester here at TROY, the school we love. None of this would have been possible without the amazing vision of Nate, Howard, Zack and Reanna.”

This year’s Telly Awards received a record-breaking number of entries from across the globe at nearly 13,000, including top video and television content producers.

“The caliber of the work this season truly has reflected the theme of going beyond the frame,” said Telly Awards Managing Director Amanda Needham. “Our industry is experimenting with new technologies like never before, crafting truly compelling stories to draw attention to some of the world’s most pressing issues. The Telly Awards is uniquely positioned to meet the industry where it’s actually making work, be that on television or TikTok.”

Entrants are judged by The Telly Awards Judging Council—an industry body of over 200 leading experts including advertising agencies, production companies and major television networks, reflective of the multiscreen industry The Telly Awards celebrates.

This year’s winners include Adobe, Calvin Klein, ESPN, LinkedIn, Mother Jones, MTV Entertainment Studios, NASA, the LA Clippers (NBA), PlayStation Studios, Sawhorse Productions, TelevisaUnivison and more.

Partners of The Telly Awards include the Gotham Institute, NAB, Stash, NYWIFT, LAPPG, Production Hub, Green the Bid, Video Consortium, and Series Fest, FWD- Doc, AI Film Festival, Reel Abilities Film Festival and Film Fatales.
