The Troy University Board of Trustees has re-elected C. Gibson Vance as the board’s President pro tempore and retired Air Force Brig. Gen. Edward F. Crowell as the board’s Vice-President pro tempore.
The re-elections were approved at Thursday’s Board of Trustees meeting on the Troy Campus.
“I am grateful for the leadership Mr. Vance and Gen. Crowell provide to our Board of Trustees and our University,” said Dr. Jack Hawkins, Jr., Chancellor. “We are in the midst of one of the most exciting times in the history of Troy University, and the leadership provided by our Board of Trustees has and will continue to play a vital role in our future.”
Vance has served as President pro tempore of the board since 2019. A 1987 TROY graduate, Vance is a principal with the Beasley Allen Law Firm, specializing in personal injury and consumer fraud, and has been a member of TROY’s Board of Trustees since 2012.
“I think we have the best Board in the state,” Vance said. “We are a very cohesive group that works hard and puts the interests of Troy University first. We all support our Chancellor, and we are in a great position to continue moving TROY forward.”
Crowell has served as Vice President pro tempore since 2021. He has been a TROY Trustee since 2009. He retired from VT Miltope as its president and CEO and is a proud veteran of the U.S. Air Force with more than 35 years of service, including time as commander of Air War College and vice commander of Air University at Maxwell Air Force Base.
“To serve my alma mater in this capacity with true leaders around who have the same value, concern and mission that I have for the University just means the world to me,” Crowell said. “I enjoy serving, but I enjoy serving even more when I am in the midst of other individuals who care so much about Troy University.”
