Troy University’s Giving Day on Oct. 4 is the perfect time for alumni and friends to give back to TROY, and Cindy and Mike Dodds have set the perfect challenge to inspire donors.

The longtime TROY supporters, whose past generosity has paved the way for improvements to the campus including the softball and golf facilities, have made a $5,000 matching gift towards Giving Day. Any donations made on Giving Day up to $250 will be matched with funds from the Dodds’ gift until the funding runs out.

Rebecca Watson, Associate Vice Chancellor for Development, said the Dodds’ matching gift doubles the power of gifts made by donors. The donor decides the designation and the match funds follow the gift.

“We are so thankful for this generous gift from Mike and Cindy, who are such loyal and engaged alumni,” Watson said. “They love TROY and it is obvious by everything they do.”

Cindy Dodds said she hoped the matching gift will motivate donors, particularly first-time donors, to consider giving.

“TROY is a great organization to give to, and we thought this challenge would give people a reason to stop and think that if we can do it, maybe they can too,” Cindy said.

The Dodds started contributing while their daughter was a student, after they fell in love with the University’s family atmosphere. Mike Dodds said giving to TROY is a blessing that is returned many times over.

“TROY is a wonderful family full of great people,” Mike said. “We feel blessed to be a part of the Trojan family.”
