Troy University’s College of Health Sciences has entered a new era with the opening of Jones Hall, a state-of-the-art facility designed to provide students with cutting-edge resources and immersive learning experiences. Named in honor of Troy University alumnus Billy Jones, this new building represents the University’s commitment to equipping future healthcare professionals with the knowledge and skills necessary to succeed in their fields.
“Jones Hall isn’t just a building—it’s a vision brought to life,” said Dr. LaGary Carter, Dean of the College of Health Sciences. “It reflects our mission to train the next generation of healthcare leaders with the most innovative tools and immersive experiences available in health education today.”

A Hub for Healthcare Education
Jones Hall serves as the home for the School of Nursing, the School of Social Work and Human Services, and the Department of Kinesiology and Health Promotion. The facility’s design and infrastructure cater to the unique needs of students in these disciplines, ensuring that they receive hands-on training in a realistic environment.
One of the most impressive features of Jones Hall is its 130-person lecture hall, which provides a collaborative learning space where students can engage with faculty and industry experts. The building also houses a 30-hospital-bed lab that mimics a real clinical setting, offering students the opportunity to practice patient care in a controlled environment.

Cutting-Edge Labs and Simulation Rooms

The facility includes five advanced simulation rooms that allow students to experience real-world scenarios in a safe and controlled setting. These simulations prepare students for high-pressure medical situations, helping them develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
“The simulation technology we’ve integrated into Jones Hall is second to none,” Dr. Carter said. “Students will walk into clinical environments already familiar with what they’re going to face, because they’ve lived it here—again and again, until confidence becomes second nature.”
For students in physical education and exercise science, Jones Hall offers a movement lab designed to analyze human biomechanics and enhance athletic performance. Additionally, an exercise science lab dedicated to “Doc” Anderson provides specialized equipment for fitness assessment, rehabilitation, and research in exercise physiology. A wet lab supports research in kinesiology, allowing students and faculty to conduct groundbreaking studies in human movement and health science.
Honoring Billy Jones: A Legacy of Giving
Jones Hall is named in recognition of Billy Jones, a Troy University alumnus and President of Crowne Management, LLC. Under his leadership, Crowne Management operates 17 nursing homes across Alabama, along with assisted living and therapy facilities, a home healthcare service, and hospice care.
Jones’ deep commitment to the future of healthcare education is reflected in his generous $2 million gift to Troy University. His contribution will have a lasting impact on students pursuing careers in health sciences, helping to expand programming and enhance learning opportunities.
Troy University Chancellor Dr. Jack Hawkins, Jr. expressed gratitude for Jones’ generosity, stating, “This type of generous gift will have a transformative impact on our programming and how we serve and equip health sciences students for their vital roles within the workforce. We often say that the most important thing we do at Troy University is serve students. Mr. Jones’ generous gift is evidence of the culture of caring that exists at TROY, not only among our faculty and staff, but also among our alumni. This will impact Troy University students for generations to come.”

A Vision for the Future
With the opening of Jones Hall, Troy University is reinforcing its position as a leader in health sciences education. The facility’s cutting-edge resources and emphasis on hands-on learning will ensure that students graduate with the skills and experience necessary to excel in their professions.
“Jones Hall stands as a symbol of our commitment to excellence and innovation,” said Dr. Carter. “It’s about more than brick and mortar—it’s about shaping futures, expanding horizons, and preparing our students to make meaningful impacts in communities everywhere.”
Thanks to the generosity of Billy Jones and the dedication of Troy University’s faculty and staff, Jones Hall will serve as a beacon of innovation and excellence for years to come.
