Dempsey to deliver keynote address at Phenix City commencement

About 100 graduates are expected to participate in the ceremony, which is set for 7 p.m. Eastern Time on June 28.

Michael Dempsey, Deputy Chief of Staff for the Maneuver Center of Excellence at Fort Moore, will deliver the keynote address to graduates from Troy University’s Phenix City Campus during the spring commencement ceremony on June 28 at the Columbus Convention and Trade Center.

Approximately 100 graduates are expected to take part in the ceremony, which will begin at 7 p.m. Eastern Time.

Dempsey, who holds a master’s degree from Troy University, retired from the Army in 2009 after having served as a Special Forces soldier. He also holds a bachelor’s degree from San Diego State University.

Dempsey has been in civil service on Fort Benning and Fort Moore since his retirement, working in the Infantry School and Maneuver Center Headquarters. An active part of the community, he has also coached recreational and club soccer in Columbus for 14 years.

Dempsey and his wife of 38 years, Evelyn, have two children – Shane and Trevor.
