Troy University Sorrell College of Business professor Dr. Edward Pappanastos has been named Scholar-in-Residence for captive insurance industry leader Arsenal in a collaboration aimed at building scholarship, engagement and opportunities for both Troy students and the company.

Dr. Edward Pappanastos is currently associate chair for the Department of Risk Management and Data Analytics in the Sorrell College of Business. He received his Ph.D. in Applied Statistics from the University of Alabama and has more than 20 years of experience teaching in the Risk Management and Insurance (RMI) sector.
“The RMI market is consistently growing in opportunity,” Dr. Pappanastos commented. “This collaboration with Arsenal will create meaningful opportunities for students to learn more about the industry, gain real world experience, and participate in programs that could potentially lead to career opportunities.”
Arsenal will be partnering with Dr. Pappanastos on several strategic recruitment and educational initiatives throughout the year to cultivate current and prospective RMI students and increase awareness of the opportunities available in the Risk Management and Insurance industry, including an internship program hosted by the Alabama Captive Association.
“We are excited to have Dr. Pappanastos as an asset to the Arsenal team,” Arsenal President Norman Chandler said. “His extensive knowledge in the RMI industry and honorable reputation in the educational community make him the ideal person to bring in as a Scholar-in-Residence with Arsenal.”
