Troy University’s children’s theater group, the Pied Pipers, will perform from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 7 in the Janice Hawkins Cultural Arts Park.

Following their performance of classic stories, the group will also host activity stations including Art Space for arts and crafts, Wiggle & Move for games and play, or Sweets & Treats for snack-able fun. Admission is free.

Tori Lee Averett, Department Chair for the Department of Theatre and Dance, said “Pipers in the Park” is one of her favorite events each year.

“It’s an excellent way to enjoy the outdoors in our beautiful Janice Hawkins Cultural Arts Park and Amphitheater, celebrate Homecoming with returning alumni and former Pipers, and have a great time with young people, and young at heart, in all the fun activity stations,” Averett said. “It’s a great chance to just relax and enjoy a simple, nostalgic good time. Plus, anytime you get to see the Pied Pipers perform is a treat, no matter your age.”

Performing across Alabama and the Southeast since 1970, the Pied Pipers was started by Dr. David Dye, the former Director and Department Chair of Speech and Theatre and Dean of the College of Communication and Fine Arts. Throughout the years, thousands of children have enjoyed the colorful, energetic performers as they share classic fables, folktales and fairytales.
