Troy University’s annual Giving Day, supporting students, athletics and university programs, will be Thursday, Oct. 8 with a goal of raising $150,000.
Now in its third year, previous Giving Days have exceeded their goals, bringing in much-needed funds for scholarships, programs and initiatives to improve the lives of TROY students, said Rebecca Watson, Associate Vice Chancellor for Development.
This year, the University is sending out the call to “Stand Up and Be a Trojan” with an ambitious new goal.
“Our past Giving Days were tremendous successes that made a positive impact in the lives of our students through the generosity of the Trojan family,” Watson said. “This year, with COVID-19 affecting our students and campus, we need your help more than ever! We are calling all Trojans to once again rally together and help us reach our goal and show the world what TROY can achieve.”
The best way to contribute to Giving Day is by going online to https://troy.edu/givingday to make a tax-deductible gift via the secure website.
Matching funds of $15,000 provided by generous donors Jane Beasley and Bob Butterworth will boost donations made during Giving Day. The University will match gifts of $100 or more with a gift of $100 as long as matching funds are available. Donors are encouraged to make their gifts early to take advantage of the matching funds while they last.
Gifts can be made to the designation of the donor’s choice, and the matching funds will follow.
In addition to making a gift, Trojans everywhere can support Giving Day by spreading the word on social media using the hashtags #StandUpAndBeATrojan and #TROYGivingDay.
“We will collect and share your posts, allowing troy.edu/givingday visitors to view constant updates by the TROY community,” Watson said.
