TROY presents ‘The Taming of the Shrew’

October 9, 2018

Troy University’s Department of Theatre and Dance presents its fall theatre production, William Shakespeare’s “The Taming of the Shrew,” Oct. 11-14 at the Trojan Center Theatre.

Quinton Cockrell directs the show, which begins at 7 p.m. Oct. 11-13 and 2:30 p.m. Oct. 14.

“Shakespeare’s classic farce, ‘The Taming of the Shrew,’ takes a comic look at conflict in relationships as it examines the coming together of two difficult people,” Cockrell said. “’The Taming of the Shrew’ is both fun and enlightening.”

Caitlin Hicks and Noah Williams star as Katherine and Petruchio, respectively, and more than 40 students are participating in the production.

The plot involves Katherine, a young woman with an anger management problem, and Petruchio, a man with impulse control issues.

“The Taming of the Shrew” is Shakespeare’s enduring comedy that tells the story of how these two forces of nature find their way into wedded bliss. Considered one of Shakespeare’s funniest and most accessible comedies, The Taming of the Shrew delivers a timely message about love and conflict in relationships.

Tickets are $10 ($5 with a student ID) and can be bought at the Trojan Center Box Office or online.
