Troy University professors are set to show off a different set of skills during the “Professor Edition” of Cook Your Way, a mystery ingredient cooking competition hosted by Troy Dining Services, on March 22.
Teams from the Sorrell marketing department (Sorrell Sizzle), the journalism department (Chop-olitan), the counseling and psychology department (Psy-cou Chefs) and International Programs (International Flayva) will battle it out for glory and a cutting board trophy for First Place and Fan Favorite winners.
“Students are encouraged to attend and vote for the best department to receive the Fan Favorite award,” said event organizer Victoria Cirilli. “Our panel of expert judges will determine the ultimate winner, and that department will go home with bragging rights until our next competition!”
Judged by Troy University Chief of Police George Beaudry, Fuse Coffee co-owner Nicki Miller and Physiques by Suso owner/personal trainer Mitchell Sneed, each team is tasked with creating show-stopping meals using the provided ingredients and surprise items in the Trojan Mystery Basket. Teams are also allowed to use any food being served in Trojan Dining Hall to elevate their dishes.
Students will have a chance to win raffle prizes from the event’s community sponsors, including a gift card and basket from Fuse Coffee and a free month of Virtual Bootcamp workouts with Mitchell at Physiques by Suso.
“This is an excellent opportunity to encourage community involvement with our schools,” Cirilli said. “Our sponsors are fantastic supporters of TROY, and nothing brings a community together like food.”
Students and faculty interested in attending the competition must swipe into Trojan Dining Hall or pay an $11 admission. The competition will be held from 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. in Trojan Dining Hall.
