The Troy University Department of Theatre and Dance will present its first show of the semester, “Flyin’ West,” from Sept. 29-Oct. 1 at the Trojan Center Theater on the Troy Campus and Oct. 4 at the Dothan Opera House.
Showtime for the play will be 7 p.m. each night, and a total of 17 students will be working on the production.
“Flyin’ West,” written by Pearl Cleage and directed by Quinton Cockrell, is set in 1898 Kansas and tells the inspirational story of four African-American women who migrate westward to become landowning farmers.
The play captivates audiences with a compelling story and unforgettable characters, according to Tori Lee Averett, chair of the Department of Theater and Dance.
All tickets for the Troy Campus performance will be $5 for general admission and can be purchased at the Trojan Center Box Office (located by Barnes and Noble) or online at www.troytheatre.org.
Admission to the Dothan Opera House performance is free, but tickets may be reserved through the Dothan Opera House Box Office: 334-615-3175.
