The Alumni Association's Scholarship Blitz with take place during the month of April to raise money to help fund scholarships for deserving students.

The Troy University Alumni Association will launch a campaign in April encouraging alumni to support scholarships for deserving students.

The theme of the Scholarship Blitz is “Trojans Together,” and the campaign will not only help the national association raise money for scholarships, but also assist local chapters in their scholarship efforts as well.

“The Alumni Association just endowed yet another scholarship, which we will begin awarding in the fall,” Byrd said. “We want to be able to add to that endowment so that we can give more. It is very important that we support scholarships because our students need them now more than ever.”

Byrd said the theme and the scholarship blitz will lead into the association’s annual Membership in May campaign and provides many giving opportunities.

“The theme for our scholarship blitz is ‘Trojans Together’. Trojans give together, Trojans cheer together, Trojans support one another. We want it to be easy for people to give back,” she said. “Those who are interested can certainly make gifts at any time. If your membership dues are coming due now, go ahead and pay your dues and add $10 or whatever amount is in your heart to give back to deserving students.”

Gifts can be designated to support specific scholarships. Byrd noted that a list of Troy University Foundation Scholarships will be available at www.troy.edu/alumni.

“Those who are interested can see what scholarship they want to support and go online to make donations. For the chapter scholarships, one can reach out to someone from the local alumni chapter. A list of chapter presidents is included on our website,” Byrd said. “So many of our local alumni chapters – and we now have 65 – give a lot of money to scholarships. Ten chapters are currently endowing their own scholarships, and six chapters already have endowments. Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, many of our chapters haven’t been able to have events and meetings. Without the opportunity to have meetings and events, raising money has been more challenging for them. This scholarship blitz will help our chapters with their local scholarships, as well as helping our National Alumni Association.”

Byrd encouraged alumni to consider their gift to be an investment in Troy University students.

“I invite you to invest in the lives of our deserving students by making a gift during our scholarship blitz. Trojans Together, proudly giving together,” she said.
