Dr. Korrie Lynn Williamson has been named Associate Dean of Student Services at Troy University effective Nov. 1.

Williamson fills the role following the retirement of Barbara Patterson earlier this year after 38 years of service to the University.

“We are very fortunate to have a person such as Korrie Lynn serving in the role as Associate Dean of Student Services for Student Engagement and Leadership,” said Herb Reeves, Dean of Student Services. “She brings a can-do attitude to the job, and we look forward to her building on the foundation left by Ms. Patterson and the other staff in the office. We’re excited to be working with her and supporting new ideas and activities for our students and the organizations on campus.”

Williamson comes to the Office of Student Involvement and Leadership after spending two years as Senior Director of Enrollment Services. She joined the Admissions staff at TROY in 2018 as Dual Enrollment Coordinator, followed by Coordinator of Dual Enrollment and Transfer Recruiting then Assistant Director of Enrollment Services.

“There’s so many dynamics at TROY and so many departments, and I think when we partner together and work alongside of each other we’re able to accomplish so much more than we are in a silo,” she said. “When I was working in Admissions, the roles were reversed—I got to show students why we love TROY and hope that they loved it as much, but here in this office, I’m able to work with students who already love TROY and want to make it such a great place for so many students.

“I’m excited to continue working with the Office of Admissions and Enrollment Services as we continue to serve all of our students, both present and future.”

As a member of Leadership Pike at the Pike County Chamber of Commerce, Williamson said one of her main goals is to introduce a new leadership program for student leaders to help prepare them for the roles they’ve been voted into amongst the 200 student organizations on campus.

“We want our student leaders on campus to really learn and grow. Whether they’re dealing with finances or leadership or risk management and events, ensuring our students are able to live out the purpose of each of their positions is a priority,” she said. “Partnering with our on-campus degree programs and giving students short seminars, identifying areas of growth and being able to help them excel within their respective areas of their organization is the goal.”

Williamson is a two-time TROY graduate, earning her bachelor’s degree in elementary education in 2015 and her master’s degree in adult education with a concentration in instructional technology in 2018. Prior to joining the staff at TROY, she taught third and fourth grade students in Enterprise.

In December, she will be a three-time TROY graduate after obtaining her doctoral degree in Global Leadership with a concentration in organizational leadership. Her dissertation was conferred on Tuesday, Nov. 19.

“This degree tied really well into the position structure of being over all of the organizations on campus, and of course being a student here at TROY,” Williamson said. “Having that student experience being involved in various organizations and having leadership roles kind of felt like coming home. This leaves me feeling anxious but excited to learn, grow, and lead alongside our incredible students today and the many days to come.”
