Troy University has been ranked among the 2025 Best Military Friendly Online Colleges by OnlineU, an online platform designed to assist students in making informed decisions about their futures.
OnlineU reviewed more than 2,600 colleges designated as Yellow Ribbon participants and matched them against a set of criteria that show a commitment to military and online students. Less than 2 percent of schools qualified, and TROY was among that group.
“Freedom is not free. Our military is America’s safeguard in preserving this delicate thing called democracy,” said Dr. Jack Hawkins, Jr., Chancellor. “Troy University is proud of its long history of service to America’s military men and women and their families. We understand the unique needs of the military student, and we remain committed to helping them be successful as they pursue their educational and career goals.”
Since 1950, TROY has served and supported the Armed Forces and those who are or have served in uniform, their spouses, and their dependents. TROY counts some 60 flag officers among its alumni ranks, has a presence on or near military installations worldwide and participates in online learning programs with all service branches.
TROY supports its active duty, Reserve, National Guard, and veterans in several ways, including the TROY for Troops Center, a one-stop-shop to help address the needs unique to the military-affiliated student. In addition to student lounges and workspaces, the Center hosts the SALUTE Honor Society, the Student Veteran Association, a Veterans’ Alumni Association, a Veteran Success on Campus counselor and visiting Department of Veterans Affairs counseling service providers.
TROY also offers its Military and Family Scholarship that caps the cost of tuition at $250 per credit hour for spouses and dependents of members of the military currently serving on active duty, in the National Guard or in the Reserves at undergraduate and graduate levels. The University also recently expanded that to cover all Ph.D. programs offered by TROY, as well as academic certificates across various disciplines.
The University also offers a 10 percent tuition scholarship and application fee waiver for all veterans and their families to include spouse and dependents in appreciation for their service to the country.
In addition to the OnlineU ranking, TROY is consistently recognized as a leading institution for members of the military and veterans by such publications as U.S. News and World Report, GI Jobs, Military Times Edge, Advanced Military Education.
