Homeschooled students throughout the region will have a chance to taste college life on Friday, March 31 at Troy University.

Homeschool Day is designed for homeschoolers grades 9 -12, and will offer a chance for them to connect with each other, tour the Troy Campus, meet with academic departments, and learn about what the University has to offer including its ACCELERATE Dual Enrollment Program, said Amber Carnathan, the ACCELERATE Program’s coordinator.

“There will be breakout sessions in the morning that include meeting admissions counselors, learning about scholarship opportunities, financial aid and housing,” she said. “They will also meet current TROY students who were homeschooled who want to share their experiences.”

The University will provide lunch and tours of the campus and residence halls. The program runs from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. and the day begins in the Trojan Center Theater.

The ACCELERATE Program allows students to earn college credit while still in high school. Taught entirely online, the program offers flexibility for students with busy schedules and can be used to satisfy the general education core requirement at the freshman and sophomore level of college, either at TROY or at another institution.
