Welcome Week, which is sponsored by the Student Government Association, is one of the busiest times on Troy University’s campus for incoming students.
“I hope that every student that comes out to participate will truly enjoy spending time with their Trojan family,” SGA President Ashli Morris said. “I also hope that this is an opportunity for younger students to make new friends and build connections.
“This week is primarily for our incoming students and we want them to start getting plugged in as soon as they can.”
A full list of events can be found on the online.
Morris said her favorite part of Welcome Week is the annual step tease.
“This has consistently been one of my favorite parts of Welcome Week, along with the block party,” she said. “Both of these events are always fun and full of energy.”
Morris recalled her favorite Welcome Week memory during her freshman year.
“I was so excited to get involved and find my niche,” Morris said. “The student organization meet and greet was in a really relaxed setting on the quad and gave me the opportunity to learn about all that Troy has to offer.”
Sadaris Williams, coordinator of student involvement and leadership, said the university hopes that students get involved and meet new people during the week of events.
“The purpose of welcome week is to welcome all students to a new semester, to assist with the transition to Troy University for incoming students, and for students learn how to get involved on our campus,” Williams said. “We have a wide range of student organizations and departments host fun and entertaining events for students during the week.”
Williams recommends that students attend some of the events during the week.
“There are tons of events all over campus,” Williams said. “This will assist a student in learning to navigate our campus and discovering what Troy has to offer.”
