Troy University has opened applications for its new Doctor of Chiropractic (D.C.) program, the first of its kind at a public university in the South and only the second offered by a public doctoral university in the United States.
Applications are now being accepted for the program’s inaugural cohort, which is set to begin in Fall 2027 at the Dothan Campus.
“By becoming only the second public institution in the nation to offer this program, we are not only breaking new ground in higher education but also addressing a critical need for healthcare professionals in our region. This program exemplifies our mission to provide innovative, affordable education that serves our communities,” said Dr. Jack Hawkins, Jr., Chancellor of Troy University.
The Doctor of Chiropractic program, housed within the College of Health Sciences, is designed for students seeking a hands-on healthcare career focused on improving mobility and performance, reducing pain, and enhancing overall well-being. Students will gain practice-ready skills through labs, clinical rotations, and real-world practice environments across the Wiregrass region, with clinical training beginning from day one.
TROY’s curriculum emphasizes integrated and interdisciplinary healthcare, preparing graduates to collaborate with other healthcare professionals and fully prepare them for the National Board of Chiropractic Examiners (NBCE) board examinations and State licensure. The program can be completed in nine semesters, or three years, after meeting prerequisite requirements.

The program also provides specialized exposure not always available in traditional chiropractic school settings, including sports chiropractic, athletic medicine, and tactical performance care — preparing students to work with active populations and athletes.
