Dr. Jason T. Whitehead, Executive Director of the Phenix City Housing Authority, will deliver the keynote address to graduates from Troy University’s Phenix City Campus during a commencement ceremony on June 4.
The ceremony, which will begin at 7 p.m. (Eastern Time), will be held at the Columbus Convention and Trade Center. Around 80 students are expected to take part in the ceremony.
As Executive Director, Dr. Whitehead is responsible for managing five developments that include 745 Public Housing units and 76 Rental Assistance Demonstration units. He also oversees 752 Housing Choice Voucher units, manages millions of dollars and employs over 30 individuals.

Dr. Whitehead previously served as Chief Executive Officer for the Youngstown (Ohio) Metropolitan Housing Authority, where he led the EnVision Center to assist individuals with self-sufficiency by Economic Empowerment, Educational Advancement, Health and Wellness, and Character and Leadership.
Prior to his work in Public Housing, Dr. Whitehead served as the Chief of Staff to the Mayor of Youngstown, focusing on community and economic development.
He is an active member of the Phenix City Rotary Club and the East Alabama Chamber of Commerce, and is the founder of both Impacting Generations Inc., a nonprofit organization committed to creating a path out of poverty, and Xcel to Excellence, LLC, an organization dedicated to empowering individuals to fulfill their dreams. While in Ohio, he was a member of the boards of the Boys and Girls Club, the Make-a-Wish Foundation and Potential Development School for Autism.
Dr. Whitehead has nearly 30 years of experience in ministry, traveling nationally and internationally facilitating seminars and presentations on leadership, management, and empowerment. He also currently serves as an adjunct professor with Eastern Gateway Community College.
He holds a bachelor’s degree in professional studies and a master’s degree in Leadership and Business Ethics from Duquesne University. He later furthered his studies and earned a second master’s degree in Public Administration from Strayer University, and a Doctor of Ministry degree from George Fox University. Dr. Whitehead and his wife, Brenda, have two children – Jason T. Whitehead II and Ja’Niece T. Whitehead.
