A gift will help risk management and insurance students in Troy University’s Sorrell College of Business in a variety of ways.
XS Brokers, a national wholesale and binding intermediary specializing in property and casualty personal and commercial lines products headquartered in Quincy, Mass., recently made a $100,000 commitment to the RMI program, in part due to the example set by TROY graduates who work for the company.
“We have had several graduates join our wholesale organization over the last year, and we are very impressed with not only their quality of education, but their work ethic and strong values,” said CEO Adam Devine. “My organization thought it appropriate to make a financial commitment to the RMI program for both existing RMI students and future ones, as well.”
Devine serves on the RMI Advisory Board for the Sorrell College.
“I was asked to join the RMI Advisory Board a year ago and in a very short time, I have seen the fantastic commitment made in this field from the faculty led by Dr. Baggett,” he said.
Dr. Courtney Baggett, an associate professor and Department Chair of Economics, Finance, Risk Management and Insurance, said the funds will provide assistance to RMI students through individual scholarships, financial assistance with state licensing exams, student travel and other needs.
“This gift will make a tremendous impact on our students, and I can’t express how grateful I am to Adam and the XS Brokers organization for their benevolence,” she said. “Adam has played an important role on our RMI Advisory Board, and we are humbled to receive such a substantial gift from XS Brokers.”
The Risk Management and Insurance (RMI) program at TROY highlights the importance of risk management within the context of a global business framework, offering students opportunities to become proficient in risk management and insurance concepts as they apply to servicing both commercial and personal insurance needs.
Troy University RMI graduates find themselves employed in cities such as Boston, Chicago, Dallas, New Orleans, Atlanta, and London. In addition, TROY graduates have found professional success closer to home in cities like Birmingham, Montgomery, Mobile, Tuscaloosa, and Troy.
