Over 400 students and their families attended Fall Trojan Day

Troy University’s campus came alive on Saturday as more than 400 prospective students and their families gathered for Fall Trojan Day, which offered opportunities to tour TROY’s campus, meet with faculty and staff, explore student organizations, and learn more about academic programs, scholarships, and student life.

The day began with a browse session where students and families connected with academic departments and student organizations, followed by an in-depth admissions, scholarships, and housing presentation. Trojan Ambassadors then led walking campus tours of residence halls, academic facilities, and student life areas. Guests finished the day by cheering on the Trojans at Veterans Memorial Stadium as they faced ULM.

Gus McKenzie, Senior Director of Enrollment Services Admissions, and Laney Kelley, Coordinator of Campus Experiences Admissions, shared that the main thing they hope students and their families take away is the clear love for Troy shown by everyone they meet.

“The main thing that I hope students and their families experienced is all of our love for TROY,” McKenzie said. “From the faculty, staff, and students they interacted with, I hope it was incredibly obvious how much we all love TROY and how their students will as well.”

They noted that while the format has evolved over the years—including browse session locations and pairing the day with a game—the core has stayed the same: allowing as many prospective students as possible to interact with as many Trojans as possible. This gives a broad look at what TROY offers and often encourages families to return for a private visit.

One parent attending with their daughter said they were most excited to learn how to help set their student up for a successful first year, including the transition of moving to campus. The family explored options in communication and nursing during the browse session.

Mallory Little, a prospective student from Saraland, Ala., said she is focused on nursing.

“My mom’s a nurse, and I take the nursing classes at my school,” Little said. “I’m excited for the entire thing, honestly. I’m super excited.”

She added that she headed straight for the nursing area and found the day helpful as she looks ahead to college.

Trojan Day serves students at any stage of their decision process. For those early in their search, it provides a clear glimpse of campus life. For students already interested in TROY, it offers the chance to make connections with future professors and student organization leaders that help set them up for success once they enroll.

Trojan Day is held twice a year, during the fall and spring. More information for the Spring event will be released at a later date.
