Abigail Grantham, a junior Elementary/Collaborative Education major from Donalsonville, Ga., was crowned as the 50th Miss Troy University on Saturday.

In all, eight students participated in the pageant, which was held in Claudia Crosby Theater on the Troy Campus. Candidates were judged on private interview, an on-stage question and social impact pitch, talent, and red carpet.

Grantham’s social impact platform is “The Make-A-Wish Foundation: Turning Pumpkins into Carriages.” She performed the vocal selection, “Any Man of Mine,” by Shania Twain.

As the winner, Grantham receives a $7,500 yearly tuition scholarship to TROY, along with numerous other gifts donated by local merchants, and she will have the opportunity to represent TROY at the Miss Alabama Pageant in Birmingham this summer.

Rebekah Wester, a graduate student pursuing Journalism from Springville, Ala., finished as First Runner-Up, while Jordan Dominguez, a sophomore Nursing major from Marianna, Fla. finished as Second Runner-Up.

Hannah Dinkel, a junior Business Marketing major from Prattville, Ala., took the title of Miss Congeniality and the People’s Choice Award.
