Pike County Lake reopens to visitors.

The popular local recreation destination, Pike County Lake, is opening back up after it had to close its gates back in December due to environmental factors.

“We were having some issues with moss, things like that growing up around the banks, that were messing with some of the anglers,” says Pike County Lake Manager Brian Meadows. “So what the state does now instead of using a bunch of chemicals or things like that that’s bad, they will drain the lake six or seven feet down and then let mother nature and the frost kill the plants.”

The lake will only be open on weekends until the work to clear the plant life is completely finished.

Also boats will not be allowed on the lake until water levels rise to appropriate levels.
