Local residents have another option available for getting vaccinated from COVID-19, Troy University’s Student Health Center.
Troy University received 2,000 doses of the Moderna vaccine this week and started vaccinations in Student Health Center on Thursday. The health center is located on the first floor of the Trojan Center on campus.
Although the shots are being given in a Student Health Center, no students are being vaccinated at this time. These vaccinations are for anyone in the general public who qualify for the vaccination based on the Alabama’s distribution guidelines.
“This is not specific just to the university,” says Senior Vice Chancellor Dr. Lance Tatum. “This is a community-based program so we want to make sure that everyone that lives not only in Pike county but for those communities that are surrounding Pike county that there is opportunity to come here and to get at least the first dose of the vaccine.”
Vaccination appointments can be made by visiting covid.troy.edu and signing up for a time.
