A Vietnam-era Huey helicopter landed on the TROY football practice fields on Tuesday morning to bring attention to Military Appreciation Month activities next month.
Troy University’s Dothan campus will hold an Armed Forces Day celebration on May 15 along with the group Friends of Army Aviation.
That event will include a day-long activity schedule with helicopter rides for the public, a parachute demonstration team and other activities.
“The actual armed forces day is a celebration that it’s not really celebrated,” says Friends of Army Aviation President John “Doc” Holladay. “So we felt like that it’s time to recognize those who are serving in our country today and recognize them for what they’re doing for our country.”
