In celebration of their Alpha Week, the brothers of Troy University‘s Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity spent an evening teaching some female students how to “Stroll like an Alpha.”
The annual event, which couldn’t be held last year due to COVID, consists of three teams of female students competing after having worked with the Alphas to learn some of the fraternity’s moves.
“We allow girls to come in and learn some of our strolls, some of our steps and the snake to just show the enthusiasm of Alpha and show the school what they can do,” says Alpha Phi Alpha Brother Malik Moore.
The fraternity also hoped the participants could establish new connections and expand their horizons.
“I feel like by spending time with people that they don’t know and getting out of the comfort zone they develop new bonds, kind of networked around and got to know new people in all different walks of life,” says Alpha Phi Alpha Brother Chauncey Perry. “They got to get close with them and work to accomplish a goal with them.”
