TROY, Ala. (TROJANVISION) — Troy Public Radio (TPR) debuted its newest show, “On Leadership,” featuring Troy University Chancellor Dr. Jack Hawkins, Jr.
“It’s the beginning of a conversation that Dr. Jack Hawkins, Jr., the chancellor of Troy University, our chancellor, will be having with listeners about leadership,” explained Radio Director Kyle Gassiott.
One of the show’s biggest draws will be Hawkins himself. In addition to leading Troy University for nearly 35 years, Hawkins also served as a platoon leader in the Vietnam War. His leadership earned him a Purple Heart and a Bronze Star.
“He introduces the topic and and lets you know a little bit about him and about the about the the University,” Gassiott told TrojanVision. “There’s a lot there that I think a lot of people are going to get a lot out of and enjoy listening to.”
The show will discuss leadership within different communities and showcase TROY alumni.
“He [Hawkins] also talked about Command Sergeant Major Bennie G. Adkins who was a very famous alumni from Troy University and is somebody who received the Presidential Medal of Honor and the lessons of leadership that we learned from him and his experience,” Gassiott explained.
A new four-minute piece will air every other Friday afternoon at 1:35 p.m.
“I think listeners are going to really get a lot out of it and really be be surprised and intrigued by the different ways that we look at leadership and how important leadership is to today’s society and what role it plays,” Gassiott said.
