What is inside TROY’s Stadium Tower?

TROY, Ala. (TROJANVISION) — Veterans Memorial Stadium is home to not only the Troy football team, but also members of the behind the-scenes staff.

Athletic trainers help athletes on the second floor.

“It gives us the ability to allow athletes to keep performing at the highest level they can while keeping them healthy and recovered,” said athletic trainer Katie Downing. “Staying ahead of a lot of injuries that you see in sports. The most important thing about my job is that it gives us the ability to love and care for people in a way that’s really unique. Get to track them through the good and bad days and we get to to do our part to show them the love and care and and help them get through their sport as best we can.”

Athletes visit the third floor to get help planning their classes.

“When the student athletes come into my office sometimes they’re coming in for scheduled meetings so we’ll talk about any grades, upcoming assignments,” explained athletics academic advisor Natalie Caracena. “Tther times they just come in to just chitchat.”

Not only does this field and the building surrounding it house staff and the Troy football team, other athletes also go there to work on their own athletic performance.

“There’s a lot of different things I do when I come to the towers,” said softball player Audra Thompson. “The first thing is weights. The second thing would be study hall and then the third thing would be athletic training.”

Student athletes also enjoy coming to the stadium to watch and cheer on their football team.

“I do enjoy coming to Troy football games,” Thompson said. “I think it’s fun it’s something different cause I spend all my time during the week playing softball or training for softball. When I get to come to football games on Saturdays it’s just a lot of fun to hang out with my friends, relax, cheer cheer on somebody else who’s playing.”

According to Trojan Athletics’ website, the Stadium Tower also houses 27 sky boxes, a state-of-the-art media hosting facility, and the Trojan Stadium Club.
