Local leaders encourage students during TEDx Troy University

TROY, Ala. (TROJANVISION) — The Student Government Association (SGA) held its second Troy University’s TEDx Conference.

TED Talks are oftentimes used as a platform for people from all walks of life to share their ideas and different experiences.

“This is actually our second time doing this event and having a TEDx at Troy,” said SGA member Foster Veasey. “It was just a really cool way to bring in new ideas to the community and show what change could happen in our community with small initiatives.”

At this event students listened to various ideas and several testimonies about how others viewed society.

“We wanted a variety of speakers local to the Troy community and some that were from out of state,” Veasy explained.

Students were encouraged to consider ideas like leadership, motivation and courage. The speakers gave new lessons and insight about positivity in the world.

“Anyone can inspire change and create action at this university and I really hope that all of the students that came will be able to take what they learned and take initiative to show the new ideas and make that change in their lives and other peoples lives on campus,” Veasey told TrojanVision.

Speakers included Briana Leavigne, Corey Poirier, Dee Bennet, Keira Brinton, Anthony Tzanahua and Myles Thomas.
