Fourth of July fireworks boom over Veterans Memorial Stadium

TROY, Ala. (TROJANVISION) — The night sky will be shining bright this coming Thursday during a Fourth of July fireworks show.

The fireworks presentation is a free annual event that is organized by the city of Troy, Troy Parks and Recreation and Troy University.

“This upcoming Thursday, July 4, we will once again have a fireworks presentation and display, and 8:30 p.m. sharp is when we will begin the show,” Dan Smith, Director of Troy Parks and Recreation told TrojanVision. “The city of Troy and Troy Parks and Recreation has been putting on the Independence Day fireworks show for over 50 years and Veterans Memorial Stadium has been the location for several decades now.”

The celebration is a moment Troy residents can come together and enjoy time as a community and a free nation. Although Troy Parks and Recreation is the main organizer of the event, Smith says it’s a community effort.

“Troy Parks and Recreation, we organize and coordinate everything for the events and get the word out and try to encourage people to come to watch the display. We could not do it without the support of the city of Troy Police Department, the city of Troy Fire Department, and especially Troy University for allowing us to use their facilities.”

According to Smith, the display can be seen from Veterans Memorial Stadium, Tailgate Terrace, nearby parking lots, TROY’s tennis courts and softball field.
