Women’s Basketball hosts second annual Basketball and Brushes

TROY, Ala. (TROJANVISION) — As Troy’s Womens Basketball prepares for its season, the team hosted one of its first events, Basketball and Brushes, in Trojan Area Tuesday night.

“We have so much going on here tonight, we are painting door hangers, we have an artist to led us to paint door hangers,” said Womens Basketball Head Coach Chanda Rigby. “We also have massagers on the side, Boutique Shops from Troy, Enterprise, Dothan are here.”

Rigby says the event helps build a stronger connection between the fans and the players that support game after game.

“What really means a lot are the people who showed up a the people, I mean its a different environment seeing them at a game when you can see them up in the stands in which we appreciate them there, of course but, tonight we get to interact, we have players at each table and they are getting to know fans one-on-one.”

One basketball player told TrojanVision the event allows fans and athletes to connect in a way that isn’t possible during normal games.

“I am enjoying the event, its really nice, I get to paint with some of my teammates, also get to know some of the supports that came out, seeing some familiar faces, I got to see my professor here tonight” said senior point guard Leilani Guion.

With basketball season right around the corner, players said they look forward to the upcoming season.

“I am just looking forward to all the new pieces we have, just starting fresh, getting a whole bunch of new personalities, a bunch of different pieces that we did need,” said freshman forward Zay Dyer. “I think we’re going to have a great season this year.”

“I am very excited about, you know my new team mates, and everything we are putting together as a team, we working really hard in practice, its my final year and I feel like we are going to do big things this year, and hopefully we get to win rings,” Guion said
