TROY, Ala. (TROJANVISION) —Troy’s Career Services hosted a special group of employers yesterday for students seeking federal internships and jobs.
Students got the opportunity to meet with the United States Department of Defense Financial Future recruiters. All majors were invited.
“One on one time with employers is hard to get,” said Director of Career Services Lauren Cole. “A lot of times our students are applying online for jobs and they are not getting face to face time.
“We are trying to provide those opportunities for students.”
As students left their one-on-one business sessions, they were able to grab an informational flier where they could fill out the QR code and submit their resumes. Students can also apply for more than one position.

“I was interested in this because of the Department of Defense itself,” said Abhissek Singh, a graduate student pursuing his master’s in Computer Science from the northern part of India. “Since my specialization is in cyber security at the moment, I knew that this would be helpful for me in some way.
“I’m glad that I got to know about more of the details and they got to know me.”
The internships and job opportunities available were over a varied range of financial activities.
“We are excited when students walk through the door and we see that they have worked on their resumes and possibly have gotten some items from the career closet or wearing their professional wardrobe,” Cole said. “This is kind of their time to shine when they meet an employer.
“Oftentimes, we will hear that that translated into an internship or job for them. So, we will then ring the bell that we have and celebrate.”
Later, recruiters engaged with students while tabling in the foyer of John Robert Lewis Hall.
The Department of Defense Financial Future recruiters also presented at an informational session where students could learn more about the opportunities available and ask questions.
