TROY, Ala. (TROJANVISION) — There’s no need for students to stay home alone on Wednesday nights thanks to the University Activities Council (UAC) and its weekly events; the most recent being a double-header movie night.
“We showed “Tangled” and “Home Alone,” and we had refreshments like popcorn and water for the students before each movie,” explained UAC committee member Jamie Parker.
This is not the first time the UAC has held a movie night; however, a few members seem to think this time was even more successful than the last.
“Sometimes a lot of people don’t really come out because it’s off campus but tonight I think the event went very well, we actually had a lot more students than we did at the last movie night, so that’s always a great turnout” said UAC committee member Kamyria Anderson.
“We’ve been having more and more people turn up to the events as of recently, especially this movie night. With this being a more unknown location we’re just glad to have a pretty good turnout” added Tayjo Oppong, a member of the UAC committee.

Anderson believes the UAC’s efforts have been noticed by students, as event attendance rates have increased.
“We love when all of the students come out, it makes us feel like we’re doing our job in some sort of right way.”
Their job, of course, being the enrichment of the Troy student experience through university involvement, an opportunity that they encourage students to take frequent advantage of.
“Things like this are important for students because it just gives them a chance to come with their friends and just relax and socialize. It gives students who don’t really go places off campus somewhere to go.” says Parker.
Oppong added, “It gives them something to look forward to throughout the week, twice a week sometimes, so Wednesdays- halfway through the week- and sometimes on Saturdays and Sundays, we have something for them to do.”
“No one is left alone in their dorm feeling bored or sad. We just want everybody to know that they can always come out and enjoy all the fun things we have on and off campus,” Anderson said.
