TROY, Ala. (TROJANVISION) — Tuesday night, Troy University’s College of Communications and Fine Arts, Jazz Ensemble and solo vocalists hosted a Nostalgia Dance.
Guests danced the night away to Swing, Jazz, Tap, Blues, all performed live.
“It was really fun,” said student Audrey Bell. “I love dancing, especially more organized dancing, like swing, waltzing all that stuff, but it was super fun, and I got to meet some new people. Just a great opportunity to get out and move.”
From “Fly Me to the Moon” by Count Basie and Frank Sinatra to “Blue Moon” by Billie Holiday, participants danced to some of the greatest hits of the big band era. One student said she appreciated the live music and dance instruction.

“I think, getting the students to sing, and them singing different jazz songs, and getting a dance professor to show how to dance before it started,” Interfraternal Music Council (IMC) President Kayleabeth Steadman said.
Although the School of Music and its ensembles regularly hold concerts, some participants hope to see more interactive events like the Nostalgia Dance.
“I would love if they would have another event like this,” Bell said. “I think it’s super fun.”
The IMC plans to hold a showcase in the spring to help get more students connected with on-campus music organizations.
