UAC helps students unwind for the holidays with Christmas movie night

TROY, Ala. (TROJANVISION) — Troy’s University Activities Council (UAC) held its final movie night of the semester for students in Patterson Hall.

Students gathered in Room 103 for a time of fellowship as they welcome in the holiday season with the help of a Christmas movie.

To help students get into the Christmas spirit and unwind before the chaos of finals unfolds, UAC showed A Madea Christmas.

Altwayne Bedward, UAC’s Coordinator of Campus Experiences, shared why the movie nights are so special.

“I would say one you get to watch movies for free that you would probably pay for it,” Bedward said.

“Now it’s closer to Christmas time. We’re showing obviously A Madea Christmas and everybody’s more like cozy and happy and smiles. It’s always positive at the end of the day.”

Some movie attendees shared how watching A Madea Christmas reminded them of special memories.

“Madea’s Christmas, one of my favorites. One of my top ten’s,” said freshman Tyler Phelps. “I actually used to watch it all the time with my grandma. This is my first time watching it since I haven’t been with her, so it’s nostalgic.

“Christmas is literally my favorite time of the year, so watching Christmas movies and everything is very homey.”

For Lauren Hambrick, a freshman, A Madea Christmas is helping her countdown to the holiday season.

“That is one of the reasons why me and my best friend came,” Hambrick said. “We went to the last movie night and that was on the football field. We watched Teen Beach Movie and it was so much fun, so we wanted to come to another one and it didn’t disappoint.”

For anyone interested in joining UAC to help plan future events such as this, meetings are held every Monday at 5p.m in Trojan Center Room 109.
