TROY, Ala. (TROJANVISION) — Beach balls, tents, and burgers were just some of what students enjoyed at this year’s Hall School of Journalism and Communication (HSJC) summer send-off.
The gathering was inspired by the annual kickball game between the Tropolitan and TrojanVision, but expanded to include more students across the program. Director of the Hall School of Journalism and Communication Dr. Robbyn Taylor said the goal of the send-off is to bring everyone together.
“Our student media groups have an annual softball or kickball game, and that’s really fun for them, but it doesn’t involve all of our students,” Taylor said. “This was a way we could get together and reflect on the year and send everybody off into the summer with the thoughts of well wishes.”
Maguire Babbs is a business major but has become friends with many of TrojanVision’s crew members.

“It’s very interesting, how much actually goes into it behind the scenes of the news,” Babbs said. “As someone who had never seen anything like that, you think there’s a lot that goes into it, but it’s a lot more than you’ll ever expect.
“It’s a fun group of people to be around, seem them work and hang out.”
The event also served as a farewell for graduating seniors. Taylor shared a message of encouragement as graduates prepare for what’s next.
“You’ve made us so proud already,” Taylor said. “I can’t imagine what your parents must feel like as you’re crossing the stage.
“We’re excited to watch you go off to do your next step, whether that’s grad school or going straight into your industries. We’re ready to cheer you on and support you.”
TrojanVision will face off against the Tropolitan in their annual kickball game on May 6 with bragging rights on the line for the next year.
