TROY, Ala. (TROJANVISION) — TROY TrojanVision has added a new piece of equipment to its studio.

Whether it’s sports, weather, or local news, TrojanVision has a variety of ways to keep the community updated on what is happening around Troy. One of those ways is by keeping the station modernized via new technology.

After weeks of preparation, an order was placed for a new video wall. The new wall, a 12 foot by 8 foot LED video screen, replaces three large television monitors that previously made up TrojanVision’s interview set.

Although the majority of TrojanVision’s students have not seen the new addition due to summer break, students who are on campus have already seen the new wall in action.

“I feel the educational benefit of having upgraded equipment gives us is absolutely immense,” said student Avery Lewis. “When I come into the news room, it makes me excited seeing that we have equipment that’s up to par with real stations.

“It makes me feel more prepared for what I’m going to walk into for my real job I’m also really excited for it because when others who may not know much about TV come in and they see all of the upgraded equipment, it gives them a sense of professionalism that I believe a lot of outside parties may not get to experience firsthand.

“Now that they do get to, I hope that it gives us more chances to be recognized.”

The renovation also represents one of the biggest changes to the studio seen in years.

“We haven’t had an update to this news studio since 2018, it’s been eight years since we’ve done anything significant,” said Aaron Taylor, Director of Television.

The video wall is a significant feature in TrojanVision’s studio thanks to its appearance in several notable shows and series throughout the semester.

“Trojan Talk is probably the most recognizable, Trojan Sports Now, Global, a show that we run everyday,” Taylor explained. “All of these shows are broadcast in front of the video wall and what that does is improve the overall quality of the shows.”

In terms of the rest of the station, current and incoming students can look forward to improvements and changes to help prepare them for the current and evolving field of journalism.
