TROY, Ala. (TROJANVISON) — After sweeping Mercer and losing to North Alabama, the Trojan volleyball team would begin its season two and one with a sweep over the Alabama State Hornets.
“I think yesterday lit a fire underneath us obviously no one likes to lose but we went home and we flushed it, and we came it today prepared and we saw the effect,” said middle hitter Sophie Ocampo.
the Trojans started the first set strong with 15 kills and only one error during the entire set. ASU would struggle offensively only securing 7 kills out of 30 total attacks. During the second set, the Trojans would struggle, putting up only 10 kills and 7 errors, but they would tone it back in and reconnect to finish the set strong 25 to 15.

“Right now we’re just so close,” said outside hitter Kalina Calvillo. “So just like Josh was saying, keeping that throughout the season, even with our loss yesterday, we never felt disconnected from each other and that just felt so powerful.”
The Trojans showed no hesitation in the 3rd, and only allowed ASU to have two kills. Troy, on the other hand, would put up 17 and win the set 25 to 11. Troy would win its second game of the season, creating a stronger bond for the team going forward.
The volleyball team will continue trying to add to the win column on Sept. 6 against South Carolina.
