Trojan Soccer leads the way with Alaina Uncapher

TROY, Ala. (TROJANVISION) — One of the hardest things in soccer is decision making. It can be figuring out who to pass to, whether or not to drive into space, or even choosing to shoot left or right, but when it came to choosing the Trojans, it was a no brainer for Alaina Uncapher.

“When I transferred I knew I was done in the cold weather, so I started looking for schools in the south and I came on a visit here and the campus was just beautiful,” said Alaina Uncapher, 5th year forward from Whitehouse, Ohio. “I loved the weather and the girls just seemed super awesome so I just decided to give it a shot and just explore.”

Growing up in Whitehouse, Uncapher started soccer at a very young age, and after a little while she figured out that she was pretty good at it.

“I started playing soccer when I was five,” Uncapher said. “My mom put me in a couple camps and practices and I just started scoring goals right away so that’s why I just fell in love with it.

“I was just naturally pretty good at it and I became obsessed.”

She would go on to play at Anthony Wayne Highschool, where she would record 52 goals and 42 assists, and even take the team to the semi finals three times in a row. She’d also receive the NLL first team for three years straight.

“I had a really supportive team and everyone worked really hard at practice,” Uncapher said. “We helped each other get better, and my high school coach was really inspiring and it motivated me, and drove the team to be successful, and it just made it a lot of fun.

“I think the more fun your having the harder you work, and the more success you have as a team and individually.”

She would then go on to Bowling Green where she played for two years, and inevitably make the half day trip where she would fall in love with Troy. Since 2025, Alaina has tallied six goals and multiple assists and was ranked second on her team for most shots on goal her junior year.
