Troy Softball starts Fall Ball season

TROY, Ala. (TROJANVISION) — Troy softball took to the diamond to start its Fall Ball season Wednesday against Wallace State.

The Trojans played well on all aspects in the ten inning matchup, preventing the Lions from scoring runs until the final inning. Head Coach Eric Newell said no matter who the opponent is, Troy has to play to the best of its ability.

“Each and every day, we’re looking to compete against the team that we’re playing,” Newell said. “Regardless of what uniform is over there, we’re gonna compete and play to the best of our ability.

“We gotta play good softball, but today was a good day.”

The Trojans would score 12 times throughout the game, including six in the eighth inning. Newell said the team played its style of softball in the eighth, living up to the type of team he wants Troy to be.

“We talk about winning every inning,” Newell said. “We just got on a roll there that was capped off by a three-run home run by Bre Hughes.

“Just keep putting together good at-bats and keep putting base runners on and pass it to the next person. That’s the kind of team we are.”

The Trojans will continue their season throughout the month of October as they build for the upcoming 2027 season.
