24-hour Hackathon brings computer science competition

TROY, Ala (TROJANVISION) — Saturday morning, the Troy University Computer Science Club hosted a 24-hour Hackathon in Patterson Hall.

After having a meeting discussing the day’s agenda, students were split up into “hacking groups” and were given a chance to let their creativity shine.

Dr. Byungkwan Jung helped Hackathon come to life. He had some very specific takeaways for students in mind.

“I believe all my fellow colleagues and also the sponsors, they were very helpful to make this event happen, especially the older participants and the volunteers and staff that we have, they are the ones crucial to masking this Troy hack event actually work.

“I wish the students, and the participants and everyone to think of this kind of hackathon event as something that is not for just gifted students, I want them to understand this event is for everyone,” Jung said. Everyone, those who want to learn, those who want to have a challenge, they can earn what they want from this kind of event.”
